Water Purifier, Philips, 2008

Home water purifier for the China market, design and launch

Water purifier, Philips, 2010

My first product for Philips in Amsterdam was a tabletop water purifier designed for China as part of the growth strategy in health and well-being.

The brief was to deliver an effective water filter that would remove impurities from tap water thus removing the need to have expensive bottled water barrels delivered to the home.

As a European brand Philips wanted to get insights into the Chinese water-drinking culture, understand the cultural importance of drinking warm water, learn where purifiers are commonly located in the home, and understand what the design attributes of such an appliance should be.

Based on a gravity feed system water is added in the top to pass through four filtration stages before collecting in a lower reservoir from which purified water is dispensed.
